James A. O'Dowd, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon at Congress Orthopaedic Associates who specializes in the management of hip and knee arthritis. He has extensive training in knee replacement, hip replacement, including the muscle-sparing anterior approach, and revision surgery. Dr. O'Dowd's medical training started at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed a five-year residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Southern California, where he received recognition in patient care and research. Dr. O'Dowd subsequently completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the top-ranked Houston Methodist Hospital at the Texas Medical Center.
His surgical expertise includes robotic and computer-assisted surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and management of failed hip and knee replacement. Dr. O'Dowd has published multiple studies and has presented work at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
